Gig companies operating in West Virginia such as Uber and DoorDash will be able to contribute to workers’ portable benefits accounts without risking loss of their contractor status, under legislation heading to Gov. Patrick Morrisey (R) for his signature.
The bill (HB 4009) was part of a workforce development package Morrisey endorsed at the start of this year’s legislative session. The House and Senate passed the final version March 14, the last day of session.
