The UK tax authority’s proposal to resolve more tax disputes through out-of-court settlements would help taxpayers save costs and time spent litigating, tax advisers and accountancy groups have said.
While the authority should use alternative dispute resolutions more frequently, it should remain free of charge and be strengthened by simplifying the processes and training more staff, the groups said in response to a consultation by His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs.
