British Airways Hikes Frequent Flyer Prices Over Air Travel Tax

British Airways is increasing ticket prices for its frequent flyers, citing UK inflation and the government’s decision to hike the air passenger tax.

The higher fares for Reward Flights, earned through Avios points, will take effect Dec. 15. Factors including an escalating travel tax, increased third-party charges, changing market conditions and ongoing inflation “left us with no choice,” according to a company statement.

The price of a round-trip, off-peak flight in business class between London and New York will cost 176,000 Avios points plus a £399 ($532) fee, compared with the current 160,000 points plus £375, according to BA’s website ...
