Kenya’s public transport operators agreed to suspend a strike over surging fuel costs that has paralyzed many urban centers in the East African nation.
At least four people died on Monday in the protests called by owners of minibus taxis that form the backbone of Kenya’s mass-transit system. Gangs barricaded some of the main roads into major cities, forcing children to stay home from school and thousands of people to walk to work.
