Musk’s IRS Data Access Disputed by Tax Rights Group, Unions (1)

A group of taxpayers and unions is suing the Trump administration alleging Elon Musk‘s government efficiency agency shouldn’t be given access to the tax records of millions of US citizens.

The lawsuit comes days after the IRS circulated a draft memo setting up DOGE’s access to the records.

The lawsuit, filed Monday in the US District Court for the District of Columbia, says that the Department of Government Efficiency doesn’t have the authority to access the “highly sensitive data” of hundreds of millions of Americans.
