A Texas tax-education group nearly had its conference canceled out from under it, thanks indirectly to the NBA Finals.
The San Antonio resort that was to host the nonprofit Texas Federal Tax Institute’s conference this week abruptly tried to cancel the event, the group says—apparently to make room to accommodate the New York Knicks, who are in San Antonio to play the San Antonio Spurs in the finals beginning Wednesday night.
But the group sued the resort, and ultimately the matter was settled. The conference is proceeding as scheduled, moved at the last minute to another San Antonio hotel.
