Nigeria President Names Tax-Reform Chief as New Finance Minister

Nigeria’s president appointed Taiwo Oyedele, the head of the nation’s tax reform committee, as the new finance minister in a cabinet reshuffle.

Oyedele, who was appointed as deputy finance minister last month, replaces Wale Edun with immediate effect, the presidency said in a statement on Tuesday. The president also named Muutaqha Rabe Darma as the new housing and urban development minister, replacing Ahmed Musa Dangiwa.

“These changes are aimed at strengthening cohesion, synergy in governance as well as achieving more impactful delivery on the economy to Nigerians,” the presidency said.
