Orban to Delay Fuel Excise Tax Hike to After Hungary’s Election

Hungary will delay a hike in the excise tax on fuel to July from January, Prime Minister Viktor Orban says.

  • Move to reduce tax income by about HUF20b ($60m)
  • Measure part of a HUF80b-HUF90b package of tax breaks aimed at small companies
  • Increased windfall tax on banks, announced last week, to help finance tax cuts
