Rachel Reeves will deliver an improved fiscal buffer at next week’s budget, one of her closest colleagues will tell finance executives on Tuesday night, even as economists doubt the chancellor’s ability to raise the necessary sums.
The government’s budget on Nov. 26 will result in “more resilient public finances, with the headroom to withstand global turbulence,” City minister Lucy Rigby is due to say in a speech at the UK Finance annual dinner, according to pre-briefed remarks from the Treasury.
