The UK tax authority is increasing its scrutiny of tax reliefs claimed by the creative industries, according to an official statement Thursday.
His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs is examining trends in the creative tax reliefs to industries including films, high-end and children’s TV, and video games, among others. The review could result in an increase in inquiries, including a small number of random inquiries, the tax office said in its monthly agent update.
“This helps ensure assurance activity reflects the full population, not only cases already identified as higher risk,” HMRC said.
