California is providing millions of dollars in new tax credits to a reboot of 1990’s drama “Baywatch” and other television productions from major studios like Sony, Amazon, and Netflix.
The latest credit allocations, announced Thursday, are going to 17 different television shows, following a series of awards last month that largely went toward film productions.
The state legislature significantly expanded the tax credit program in June. The incentive provides a tax credit of between 35% and 40% for qualified expenditures on new or relocating television shows in a bid to attract and retain production in the state.
