Brazil Judge Orders Tanure’s Assets Frozen in Master Probe (1)

Brazil Supreme Court Justice Dias Toffoli authorized the freezing of assets belonging to investor Nelson Tanure as part of an investigation into Banco Master SA, according to a Jan. 6 decision unsealed by the court on Friday.

Prosecutors requested the measure after a federal police investigation that alleges Tanure acted as a hidden partner in the failed bank, exerting influence through funds and complex corporate structures, the judge said in the decision. Newspapers Folha de S. Paulo and Valor Economico first reported the order earlier Monday.
