The California State Board of Equalization elected a new chair for next year to lead the five-member body that oversees property tax assessors in the state.
Sally Lieber, current vice chair of the board, will take over as chair Jan. 1. The board is made up of the state controller and four representatives voted in by geographic districts, making it the only one of the state’s multiple tax agencies with elected membership.
