Florida lawmakers are convening Monday in Tallahassee to consider placing a question on the November ballot that would have voters decide whether to phase out property taxes for most primary residences in the state.
The special session, called last week by Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), comes after months of political gridlock over how to address soaring property values. Measures to cut homestead property taxes failed to get through the state’s Republican-led legislature this year.
