Greg Matson will step down from his duties as executive director of the Multistate Tax Commission early next year, setting off a search for a new chief of the intergovernmental tax agency.
Matson, a 19-year veteran of the commission, announced his decision during a closed meeting of the MTC’s Executive Committee Thursday. He plans to join the state and local tax practice at the law firm Eversheds Sutherland starting next February. Despite that target date, Matson said he doesn’t plan to leave the commission until a new executive director has been identified.
