After years of complaints over unfair bills, New York City said it’s willing to change how it calculates property taxes as it seeks to end a nearly decade-long legal battle.
Steven Banks, the city’s corporation counsel, said at a Friday hearing in state Supreme Court in Manhattan that the city was prepared to pursue reform measures included in a 2021 report prepared by a property tax advisory commission, with the aim of settling a long-running case filed by the housing coalition, Tax Equity Now New York.
