The trucking industry is using a Trump administration initiative designed to shave down burdens on interstate commerce to attack Massachusetts’ use tax on equipment moving cargo in and out of the commonwealth.
The American Trucking Association, the Transportation Association of Massachusetts, and freight giant J.B. Hunt Transport Inc. filed comments objecting to Massachusetts tax rules under a Justice Department request for information, published in the Federal Register, on state laws having “significant adverse effects on interstate commerce.”
