Senate Finance Committee Democrats are digging into former Missouri GOP Rep. Billy Long’s role in promoting a pandemic tax credit that’s been beset by claims of fraud.
The tapping of the auctioneer-turned-radio-host-turned-congressman shocked the tax world when President-elect Donald Trump named him to lead the IRS. Long’s work after leaving Congress promoting the controversial employee retention tax credit has raised the ire of some in the industry and Democrats.
