GOP Plots Moves on Immigration Funding

Republicans in Congress are plotting a path forward on a plan to use the expedited reconciliation procedure in order to fund immigration and border priorities after the Trump administration reportedly backed off a controversial anti-weaponization fund.

The administration is reversing course on the plan to create a $1.8 billion legal fund for victims of alleged government “weaponization,” though though it’s not clear whether the decision includes pausing other parts of the settlement, such as the IRS agreement on not to audit President Donald Trump’s taxes.
