Denmark Keeps Air, Sea Fuel Exemption in Energy Tax Overhaul

Europe’s aviation and maritime sectors will continue to be exempt from taxes on fuels until at least 2035, according to the latest version of a bill meant to revise the EU’s energy tax rules.

The version of the bill, known as the Energy Taxation Directive, maintains the exemptions in accordance with the wishes of island countries like Greece and Malta, who fear the harm a tax would pose to their economies, according to a July 30 document seen by Bloomberg.
