European Commission Approves Romania Aid Regime Under Clean Industrial Deal State Aid Framework

The European Commission (EC) March 25 issued State Aid Case Decision No. SA.121308, approving Romania’s aid regime under the Clean Industrial Deal State Aid Framework (CISAF). The decision includes measures to: 1) set an estimated budget of approximately 150 million euros (US$173.3 million); 2) authorize aid until Dec. 31, 2030; 3) allow aid for qualifying electricity producing companies of all sizes registered in Romania, excluding undertakings in difficulty or under a recovery order; 4) support investments in new standalone battery electricity storage installations connected to the transmission or distribution grid, subject to minimum capacity and technical requirements; 5) cap aid ...
