The IRS announced Monday that it’s creating a new office to coordinate investigations into individuals who promote aggressive tax schemes, including syndicated conservation easements and micro-captive insurance arrangements.
Lois Deitrich, who began working at the agency 20 years ago, will be the acting director for the new Office of Promoter Investigations, the IRS said. The office will be positioned in the IRS’s Small Business/Self-Employed Division.
“Deitrich will take over the work the agency has been pursuing for the past year under Brendan O’Dell, who was selected as the Promoter Investigation Coordinator in early 2020,” the IRS said.
