House Republicans Float IRS Funding Cut

A House Appropriations subcommittee will vote Friday on whether to advance a spending bill that would make cuts to the IRS budget.

The Republican-proposed Financial Services and General Government funding bill would provide the IRS with $10.2 billion for fiscal 2027. That’s slightly more than the agency would get in the fiscal 2027 White House request, but it’s less than this fiscal year’s funding level of $11.2 billion.

Overall, the bill would set a funding level of $25.3 billion for the agencies in its jurisdiction, a $1 billion reduction from current funding. ...
