The IRS reminds tax preparers to renew their preparer tax identification numbers (PTINs) for 2026. The annual renewal requirement applies to tax professionals who prepare or assist in preparing federal tax returns for compensation, as well as all enrolled agents, regardless of whether they prepare returns. Current PTINs will expire on Dec. 31, and the non-refundable renewal fee is $18.75. Renewal can be completed electronically through the IRS Tax Professional PTIN System. [IR-2025-108 (Oct. 27, 2025)]
