The IRS watchdog is evaluating how probationary IRS employees were terminated, the office confirmed Friday.
Roughly 7,315 probationary employees at the IRS were first fired in February amid a slew of similar firings of probationary workers across the federal government. Since then these employees have been experiencing whiplash with their employment status as the issue plays out in court. The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration, which provides independent oversight of the IRS, said Friday it was assessing how the cuts were made.
