Oklahoma’s Anti-ESG Fight Tests ‘Arbitrary’ Nature of State Laws

An Oklahoma lawsuit could be the first to test the arguments against anti-ESG state laws that they’re confusing to implement and will financially harm public pensioners.

Oklahoma has joined states like Texas and Kentucky with laws requiring governmental entities to divest from companies deemed to boycott the oil and gas industry. A lawsuit filed in state court paints the 2022 Oklahoma law as subjective.

Some state officials are seeking clarifications in the GOP-controlled legislature on the measure over differing interpretations of the law.
