Solar Operator Convinces Texas Justices to Review Tax Break Suit

An ENGIE North America Inc. subsidiary will get another chance to argue that the Texas comptroller wrongly denied a limitation on its $520 million solar farm project’s taxable value after the state Supreme Court granted its petition.

ENGIE and Hamlin Collegiate Independent School District said Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts Kelly Hancock wrongly invalidated their agreement granting the developer a property tax break because of a minor clerical error. The Texas Supreme Court will hear oral arguments Nov. 4, the court said in an orders list June 19th.
