When the calendar flipped to 2026, chances officially ended for on-time renewal of a batch of largely business tax breaks known as tax extenders. Now the race is on among lobbyists to get Congress to renew them retroactively.
Industries from racetrack owners to film studios are eyeing vehicles to attach the breaks, seeking to get passage in time to get the benefits—and spur intended taxpayer behavior.
