Challenge to California Trans Athlete Law Preserved by Court

High school girls and their parents challenging California’s rules requiring schools to accept the participation of trans athletes will get a chance to beef up their complaint, according to a federal court order.

US District Court for the Central District of California Sunshine S. Sykes dismissed Thursday in part claims from girls on a volleyball team with a trans player. The plaintiffs were given leave by the court to amend their complaint to further elaborate allegations of discrimination under the First Amendment, Fourteenth Amendment, and Title IX of the 1972 Education Amendments.
