Education Department Loses Bid to Block Mental Health Grants

The US Department of Education failed to convinced a federal appeals court to block a lower court order requiring the agency to continue school mental health grant funding to sixteen states.

A three-judge panel for the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in a ruling Tuesday agreed with the lower court that the department’s across-the-board discontinuation notices to 138 grantees likely violated the Administrative Procedure Act.
