A federal trial judge in Texas said he could revoke his standing order directing lawyers to certify any work done by artificial intelligence tools, if he determines people are more aware of the flaws posed by those platforms in the future.
US District Judge Brantley Starr, speaking on a April 19 panel at a bench-bar conference for the Northern District of Texas, said that when he started last year requiring attorneys to certify that they checked AI generated work for accuracy, the issues surrounding those tools’ creation of fake or wrong information weren’t as well known.
