Kasowitz LLP secured court approval of its final $12 million fee application in Yellow Corp.’s bankruptcy after voluntary reductions.
Judge Craig T. Goldblatt of the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware overruled the International Brotherhood of Teamsters’ objection and approved the fees during a Tuesday hearing in the fallen trucker’s Chapter 11 case.
He determined that the firm’s discounted, blended rates were reasonable and are lower than those he routinely sees in large cases.
High market rates for bankruptcy and complex litigation work are simply “the world in which we live,” the judge said.
