New York Casino Proposals From MGM, Genting Win Key Support (2)

Two casino bids — MGM Resorts International’s proposal for a $2.3 billion expansion of its Empire City Casino in Yonkers, New York, and Genting Group’s pitch for a $5.5 billion addition to its Queens location — will advance to a state board after clearing a key vote by local advisory committees.

The bids are the first two downstate New York casino pitches to gain support from the community advisory groups created as part of the state licensing process. Three proposals that would have placed a casino in Manhattan were rejected last week.
