An Illinois federal court denied the Chicago Transit Authority’s motion for judgment as a matter of law, but ordered a new trial, on the claims of a Catholic employee who was discharged after refusing to follow a Covid-19 vaccine mandate, in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, ruling that the jury’s verdict in favor of the employee didn’t go against the weight of the evidence, but that certain instructional and testimonial issues prevented the CTA from presenting a complete case.
