PBF Energy Unit Sued for Excess Hazardous Emissions in Bay Area

A PBF Energy Inc. petroleum refinery in Martinez, Calif. has failed to properly maintain its pollution control systems, leading to hazardous materials discharging into surrounding developments and water supplies, a new suit says.

The Martinez Refinery has repeatedly failed to follow its National Pollution Discharge Elimination System permit and emitted excess amounts of spent catalyst and petroleum coke dust, an environmental group alleged in a complaint filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
