A former Ball State University employee sued President Geoffrey S. Mearns alleging she was fired for exercising her First Amendment rights after expressing her views on a private Facebook post on the death of political commentator Charlie Kirk.
The lawsuit, filed in a federal court in Indiana, is the latest in a rising wave of litigation involving disciplinary actions against workers who have been expressing their views on social media about Kirk’s death.
