Blue States Bash EPA Plan to Stop Some Expedited Record Requests

Ten state attorneys general pushed back against the EPA’s draft regulation to no longer allow fees to be waived or requests to be expedited for environmental justice-related public records requests under the Freedom of Information Act.

Attorneys general for states including California and Massachusetts filed a comment letter Thursday on the agency’s proposal, saying it “would unnecessarily hinder already overburdened communities from accessing essential information and data regarding the health and safety of their communities.”
