Japan’s Largest Nuclear Power Plant Gets Formal Restart Approval

The world’s largest nuclear power plant won formal approval from Japanese lawmakers to reopen two of its reactors, an important step in the country’s plan to revive atomic energy.

The government of Niigata prefecture voted on Monday to allow the restart of the No. 6 and No. 7 reactors at the Kashiwazaki Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant, officially endorsing a decision last month by regional governor Hideyo Hanazumi.
