A former Mintz client is refusing to pay more than $2 million in success fees owed to the firm for recoveries it won related to voice assistant technology patents, according to a lawsuit.
The firm said in Friday’s complaint, filed in the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts, that Austin-based Parus Holdings owes $2.1 million under its 2019 engagement agreement with three Mintz attorneys.
Mintz said it was hired to review Parus’s intellectual property portfolio and target large multinational corporations that have infringed on its patents.
