RALEIGH, N.C.—The U.S. Department of the Navy has agreed to pay for a mortality study covering individuals exposed to toxic contamination at the Marine Corps’ Camp Lejeune in eastern North Carolina, a spokesman for Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.) told BNA Feb. 22.
According to David Ward, the study will be conducted by the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry. ATSDR was informed of the Navy’s decision to provide $1.53 million to fund the study in a Feb. 18 letter, Ward said.
