More than 100 Republican lawmakers urged the Trump administration to reverse its plans to fire Treasury Department staff who oversee a fund supporting financial services providers in economically disadvantaged communities.
Laying off everyone at the Community Development Financial Institutions Fund would shutter congressionally mandated operations and harm low- to moderate-income communities around the country, the Thursday letter led by Senate Finance Chairman Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) and Rep. Young Kim (R-Calif.) said.
“It is unclear how these programs will continue to operate if the CDFI Fund’s obligations cease to function,” the GOP lawmakers from both chambers warned.
