States and federal agencies can find common ground working to make the environmental permitting process more predictable, despite challenges states are facing as they deal with the Trump administration’s approach to environmental protection, the heads of two states agencies said Friday.
“It’s a really hard time to do what we all do, to care about the environment,” Bonnie Heiple, commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, said at an American Bar Association conference.
The rollbacks and repeals of bedrock environmental laws have very real reverberations far beyond Washington affecting state efforts to implement environmental laws, Heiple, said.
