House Democrats are slamming the Department of Interior’s deal with a French energy giant to stop the firm’s offshore wind projects, calling it “outrageous” and saying it will jack up energy prices.

The Trump administration in late March agreed to pay nearly $1 billion to TotalEnergies to release the company of their wind leases and redirect funds to US oil and gas investments. The move is the latest in President Donald Trump’s crusade against offshore wind.
