The Trump administration’s nominee to lead EPA enforcement cleared a Senate panel Wednesday, moving him one step away from the job.
The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee voted 10-9 to advance Jeffrey Hall’s nomination to a full floor vote.
If confirmed, Hall would become head of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assistance, which ensures companies and other regulated entities are following the law.
OECA issues fines, helps businesses and local governments comply with the rules, and, in the most serious cases, refers criminal matters to the Justice Department.
