Alphabet, Visa Among Companies Signaling Heightened AI Oversight

Corporate boards can no longer just think about AI oversight—they have to clearly show investors how much they care, who’s responsible, and how they’re prepared to act.

Alphabet Inc., Visa Inc., and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc.are among a smattering of S&P 500 companies that have in the past year either created new board committees or updated existing committees’ responsibilities to monitor AI, according to 2026 proxy statements. The changes are intended to reassure shareholders who want to know companies are on top of the promise and potential pitfalls AI presents, board consultants and attorneys said.
