The Energy Department’s advisory committee on the coal industry would be permanently reauthorized under H.R. 3015.

The measure would direct the department to reestablish the National Coal Council, codifying the Trump administration’s decision to relaunch the panel representing coal-related interests. It also would exempt the council from a requirement that all federal advisory committees established through an executive action to automatically sunset after two years if they are not renewed.
