Coca-Cola Defeats Claims Its Simply Tropical Juice Contains PFAS

The Coca-Cola Co. escaped a proposed class action over alleged forever chemical contamination in the soda giant’s Simply Tropical juice brand after a federal judge said the lead plaintiff failed to show any harm from drinking it.

Joseph Lurenz didn’t sufficiently link third-party testing of the product to his purchase and didn’t show how the presence of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances—known as PFAS—resulted in juice worth less than what he bargained for, Judge Nelson Stephen Román of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York ruled Monday.
