The European Commission is taking steps to ensure that regulations meant to support sustainable investing don’t clash with the bloc’s efforts to pump capital into its defense industry.
In a so-called Notice, the European Union’s executive arm said it’s keen to “help prevent any undue discrimination” against the defense sector in investment decisions, according to an internal document seen by Bloomberg.
A spokesperson for the commission didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. The guidance applies to several sets of regulations that make up its sustainable investing framework, including the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, according to the document. ...
