Gildan Activewear Inc., fresh off a deal to buy Hanesbrands Inc., has hired a chief legal and administrative officer in Rabih “Rob” Assal, who most recently was the top lawyer for a unit of Canadian auto parts giant Magna International Inc.
Gildan confirmed Thursday that Assal started Aug. 25, less than two weeks after it announced a $2.2 billion cash-and-stock bid for Hanesbrands. A takeover of the US underwear maker would be Gildan’s largest-ever acquisition.
