HHS, Labor Pull Plan to Require Contraceptives Without Copays

The Biden administration on Monday withdrew a proposed rule that would have required health insurers to cover certain over-the-counter contraceptive items without a prescription and without imposing cost-sharing requirements.

It also would have required insurers to cover certain contraceptive items that are drugs without cost-sharing. The withdrawn proposal (RIN 1545-BR35), RIN-0938-AV57, and RIN 1210-AC25) which was published Oct. 28 in the Federal Register, was from the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and the Treasury.
